
Grant Fisher is an American athlete who excels in long distance and middle distance events. He is an American Record holder in 10,000m and indoor 5000m with a timing of 26:33.84 and 12:53.73 respectively. He represented the United States at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 in the both 5,000m and 10,000m, narrowly missing out on a medal opportunity by finishing fifth in the latter event. He qualified for the Olympics by finishing second in the 5,000m and 10,000m in the US Olympic Trials 2021. He attended the Stanford University from 2015 to 2019 and earned an electrical engineering degree. He joined the Bowerman Track Club in 2019.
In the spring of 2013, he established personal records in the 1500-meter run at the IAAF World Youth Athletics Championships, the mile run at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals competition, the 3000-meter run at the USATF World Youth Trials, and the 3200-meter run at the Michigan State Meet. He won the Foot Locker Midwest Regional in the fall of his junior year of 2013 with a personal best timing of 15:02. Fisher ran a lifetime best of 1:55.76 in the 800 metres and 3:49.62 in the 1500 metres at the World Junior Championships in 2014. The 2017 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships saw Fisher win the 5000-meter race, making history as the first American underclassman to accomplish so in 28 years.
He recorded a new 10000m personal best of 27:11.29 on February 20, 2021, in the TEN invitational meet in Los Angeles, California. On March 6, 2021, in Southern California at the Sound Running Invite, Fisher won the men’s 5000-meter competition. In the 10,000m race at the 2020 Summer Olympics, he placed fifth overall and was the fastest American with a time of 27:46.39. Fisher finished second in the USATF 10k championship on May 27, 2022, with a timing of 28.28.81. He claimed the USATF 5K Championship on June 26 with a timing of 13:03.86. Fisher finished fourth and sixth in the finals of the 10000 m and 5000 m at the World Championships 2022, with times of 27:28.14 and 13:11.65, respectively.
